PT Batulicin Enam Sembilan – The government has again opened the coal export taps for companies that have met domestic needs (domestic market obligation/DMO). This decision was immediately welcomed by coal transportation service provider PT Batulicin Nusantara Maritim.

Batulicin Maritim Director Yuliana predicts that this policy will encourage an increase in coal shipping activity. In fact, the company owned by Hipmi Chairman Mardani H. Maming is ready to transform by adding new ships.

"So that it not only provides added value not only for the company, but can also contribute to the nation and state," said Yuliana in her statement, Thursday, February 10.

As is known, the government has lifted the ban on coal exports as of January 31 2022. This means that coal exports can be carried out in early February.

Even though it has been revoked, the export ban still applies to coal companies that have not met DMO's domestic needs. The implementation of this policy takes into account the condition of coal supply and coal supplies at Steam Powered Power Plants (PLTU) owned by PT PLN (Persero) and Private Electricity Producers (Independent Power Producer/IPP) is starting to improve.

"The reason coal exports are temporarily frozen for a month is to ensure the availability of domestic supplies. This means that the company will not be legally and financially affected while export activities are frozen," said Yuliana.

However, said Yuliana, the government must regulate the rhythm of transporting coal abroad, which is related to export permits which are sure to pile up due to the temporary ban last month.

Yuliana also assured that the company, which is a subsidiary of the Enam Sembilan Group, will continue to support the government's efforts in taking every step in the energy sector, especially coal, and will continue to contribute at every available opportunity.
